Finding your pick-up point

One of the most common causes of confusion for holiday-goers is simply locating the rental desk. Sometimes it’s a traditional counter inside the terminal, other times it may be a roaming representative, or even a collection point outside the airport altogether.

To avoid any last-minute stress, make sure to carefully read your rental voucher. It will include clear instructions, given to us by your provider, on exactly where to go and who to look for.

One company, multiple brands

Did you know that some car rental brands are part of the same family? For example, the popular car rental providers Dollar and Thrifty are actually owned by Hertz. For travellers, this can occasionally lead to some confusion. You might follow the instructions in your rental documentation expecting to find a dedicated Keddy counter, only to arrive at a desk branded as Europcar. But rest assured, this is completely normal.

Knowing that these brands are connected can take the stress out of collection, but if in doubt, just ask a staff member who will happily point you in the right direction!

Similar to the previous point, it’s common in busy airports for car rental providers – especially local brands – to share desk space or pick-up areas. A good example is Faro Airport’s P4 car park, where over a dozen providers operate from the same kiosk. It may be unclear when collecting from an area with multiple companies if you’re in the right spot, so if you’re unsure, just keep and eye out for signage, staff uniforms, and multiple queues – they’re all helpful clues that you’re exactly where you need to be.
