Springfield
Right in the heart of the state is its capital, Springfield. The city is most famous for its connection with the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. You can visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, alongside the Lincoln Home and Lincoln’s Tomb to get a comprehensive history of his whole life.

Springfield also has some of the best restaurants in the state and it’s the home of the corndog, so don’t leave without trying one.
Bloomington
The city of Bloomington in the middle of Illinois. As a result, it has fantastic transport links to anywhere else in Illinois you could wish to visit. However, there are plenty of things to keep you occupied in the city. One of the top attractions is the ornate David Davis Mansion and the attached ‘Sarah’s Garden’. If you enjoy learning about the local history then you must also visit the McLean County Museum of History and Prairie Aviation Museum.
If you enjoy the great outdoors then there is some fantastic walking locations around Bloomington. Just north of the city is the Starved Rock State Park, where there are some popular walking routes. You can also see some incredible scenery including fantastic rock structures and huge waterfalls.
Moline
The city of Moline is in the northwest corner of Illinois, on the banks of the Mississippi River. The city is the home of world famous agricultural machinery producer John Deere. You can visit the John Deere Pavilion to view hands-on exhibits detailing the past, present and future of the company. It is suitable for all ages and it’s a must-see.
Whilst you are in Moline make sure you check the schedule at the iWireless Center, which holds a variety of events including basketball, ice hockey and music concerts. You can also take a river cruise on the Mississippi, where you can listen to live music, eat great food and sit back and enjoy the scenery.
