When you land at Kefalonia Airport, you’ll be able collect your rental car right away. We have compiled a brief guide of the top resorts and sights on the island. Read on to get a taste of what to expect from your holiday here.

Argostoli

The capital of the island and a bustling harbour town, if you want to get a true feel for day to day life on Kefalonia, this is a great place to start. Wander along the promenade and soak up the atmosphere. Head to the main square, where you can enjoy a beverage then stroll around the shops for a while. There is a wondrous stone bridge named Drapano Bridge which is worthy of a visit, as well as an archaeological museum too.

Lassi

Neighbouring Argostoli, you could couple a trip here with a visit to the capital. There are two beaches here on which you can relax, Makris Yialos and Platis Yialos. If you are looking for something a little more peaceful, there are some beautiful tranquil bays too.

Spartia

Spartia is somewhat quieter than Argostoli and Lassi. Full of charm and things to explore, head to the remains of the castle, then amble around the town. There are plenty of opportunities for a stroll and the countywide lends itself well for discovering olive groves and other more traditional Greek elements.

Fiscardo

Take a look at the only town that was not destroyed by an earthquake in the 1950’s. This means that you can spot various fantastic examples of Venetian architecture. Visit this bustling harbour villages in the height of summer and stop off at a local taverna to try the catch of the day.

Caves of Melissani & Drogarati

Both of these Caves are close to Sami, another highlight of a trip to Kefalonia. Arrange a boat trip and you should be able to see both of these wonders at the same time.
