Kefalonia Airport Car Hire.

Capture Kefalonia.

Not too far from the Greek mainland, it’s a popular destination in the summer months with holidaymakers flocking here to enjoy the clean beaches and friendly towns, but above all, the abundant natural beauty.

Kefalonia Airport is your gateway to the Greek Island of Kefalonia, sometimes spelt Cefalonia or Cephalonia. Mountains, cliffs, and lush forests definitely define this isle.

The capital, Argostoli is just a 15 minute drive away while the second largest town Lixouri is located at the other end of the bay. A holiday here will be sure to rejuvenate you so enjoy all it has to offer during your trip.

Day Trips on Kefalonia

Nestled below Mount Ainos is the town of Lourdata, easily reached with a rental car. Laze on the sand and pebble beach and take a dip in the beautiful waters. There are a number of other beaches to enjoy too; Skala is very popular for its beaches and is found at the south of the island, around an hour's drive away. Slightly closer to the airport, you can relax at Kaminia Beach but keep your eyes peeled as it is a known nesting spot for Carretta-Carretta (AKA loggerhead turtles).

The harbour town of Sami on the opposite side of the island is wonderful to visit. Take a stroll along the pretty waterfront and visit the beautiful lake of Karavomylos; its shore side taverna is the ideal spot for a lunch of fresh fish with great views to compliment it!

Simply spend some time enjoying the landscape; the mountainous scenery and picturesque peninsulas create the perfect backdrop for your holiday in the Greek Islands. A hire car gives the freedom to explore, get off the beaten track and uncover quiet beaches and secluded walking spots.

Head out to uncover some of the local, traditional villages. Why not explore the remains of the castle of St George which can be found near the village of Spartia? It's just a short distance from the airport, or travel to Poros, an attractive village on the eastern edge of the island.
