I have used Zest Car Rental a number of times and have always had an excellent experience. Everything is clear, transparent, and easy to understand, with no hidden surprises. I had booked a category C Peugeot 208 or equivalent through Zest. When arriving to pick up the car I was upsold by the agent to a more powerful car based on how hilly/steep Madeira is. As such I paid €140 more for a Mercedes A Class for a week. I was so glad I did as Madeira has the steepest hills I have ever driven on. A 1.0L 75bhp Peugeot would not have been able to go up some of them! The Mercedes also had built in and included Sat Nav and we used this heavily to navigate the maze of winding roads.
