Colorado Springs Airport
Colorado Springs Airport is located only 6 miles outside Colorado Springs and is a perfect gateway to the nearby National Parks. Make sure you visit Pike’s Peak, where there are some brilliant and challenging walking routes. There are some steep climbs, but you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views over the Southern Rockies.
If you enjoy natural beauty then make sure you visit the Garden of the Gods for some dramatic red rock formations. There are also plenty of things to do in the city, with the extensive Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and Colorado Springs Fine Arts Centre two particular highlights.
Denver Airport
Denver Airport is just a 20 minute drive from the city. There are a range of attractions on offer in Denver with something to suit everyone. You are only a short drive from the wonderful Rockies, which offer even more things to do. However, if you want to stay in the city you can visit a variety of landmarks, such as the Colorado State Capitol Building or the Denver Art Museum. There is also the Denver Zoo and Downtown Aquarium which are both great family attractions.
Just west of Denver in Morrison is one of the most famous fossil sites in the world, Dinosaur Ridge. The rocky outcrop displays various trails of footprints left by numerous different species of dinosaur. This is a must-see for anybody interested in natural history.
Skiing
Colorado is home to a number of fantastic ski resorts, mostly around a 2 hour drive west of Denver. Vail, Breckenridge, and Beaver Creek are amongst the most popular and are all within a 20 minute drive of each other. There are a variety of runs for both beginners and experts and there’s a good selection of places to hire equipment.
