Lithuania is earning itself a reputation as a sightseer’s paradise, thanks to its numerous castles, lakes, and forests. It also has a wonderful coastline and a number of unique sites such as the Hill of Crosses.

History plays a large part of Lithuania’s allure – it was the last European country to adopt Christianity in 1387, as well as the first to declare independence from the Soviet Union in 1990.

Vilnius Airport – Lithuania’s capital city Vilnius is packed with incredible sights and sounds, wonderful Baroque buildings are intertwined with meandering alleys. There are eerie courtyards to pass through and brightly coloured churches to see. The Old Town is home to numerous lively bars and restaurants and was given UNESCO World Heritage status for its impact on Eastern European culture and architecture.

Kaunas Airport – Lithuania’s second city, Kaunas is a resort that transforms itself from a snowbound ghost town during the winter months into a bustling scene of activity throughout the summer. The picturesque Old Town, or Senamiestis, is filled with 15th and 16th century buildings overseen by the striking Baroque Town hall. New restaurants and bars serving delicious local cuisine are opening in the city all the time and adding to the appeal of this much loved city.

Palanga Airport – The city of Palanga has grown from a small 19th century fishing village to the most popular coastal resort in the country. Today, tourists can relax on the city’s sandy 11 mile long beach and take in the wonderful sunsets, visit the Botanical Gardens or the charming Amber Museum, and wander past street vendors and musicians soaking up the wonderful atmosphere.
