Sightseeing in Tauranga
Before you head off and explore the sights, spend some time in the city itself. There is a wondrous golf course named Omokaroa where you can try and perfect your swing.
Tauranga is also home to an art gallery, which is well worth a look. Once you have finished here, embark on a stroll to Waikareao Estuary. You will find plentiful trails and this is a great opportunity to soak up the fantastic scenery.
Exploring the Bay of Plenty
Drive off and uncover the beauty of Mount Maunganui which has both a harbour beach and an ocean beach. If you want to try your hand at surfing, then this is a great place to do it.
The Kaimai-Mamaku Forest Park is no more than a 30 minute drive away, so enjoy a day here exploring the 300km of tracks with giant trees, creeks, waterfalls and gorges to see.
Take a trip to Mclaren Falls Park. Stay until it starts to get dark and you will may be lucky enough to see the glow worms. Why not try fishing, or perhaps walk along one of the trails? This is a fantastic place to while away an afternoon.
Travel to Rotorua and marvel at the hot springs for which this city is famed. Start off by exploring Waimangu Volcanic Valley; packed full of craters and geothermal wonders, you won’t be bored here. Explore the Buried Village of Te Wairoa, or arrange a guided tour to discover more of its history.
