Bulgaria has a lot going for it and is becoming more popular. If you’re looking for sun and sand, head to the beaches of the Black Sea. Here you’ll find some luxury resorts, more modest offerings, and all the water activities you could wish for. If you’re a hiker or skier, the Pirin Mountains have the most dramatic views and best facilities. Bansko is located here and is one of the most famous ski resorts in the country. Alternatively you could head to Pamporovo in the Rhodopi Mountains or the Rila Mountain’s Borovets.

Airports in Bulgaria
We work with car rental providers at both the major Bulgarian airports as well as smaller locations around the country. You’ll never be far from one of our locations!
Sofia Airport – A relaxed and interesting city, the capital of Sofia is home to some wonderful Orthodox churches such as the St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral whose green domes dominate the surrounding area. If you’re more interested in Ottoman mosques, the Banya Bashi mosque is a fabulous example and was built over a natural thermal spa. If you’re here for the skiing, the stunning Rhodope, Rila, and Vitosha Mountains are all just short drives away.
Plovdiv Airport – History is a central theme for the city of Plovdiv although its stunning location is a close second. Surrounded by a number of hills, four are of particular interest and worth exploring. The Old Town has been restored to its former 19th century glory and there are reminders of Roman, Thracian, and Byzantine influences, including the still used Roman amphitheatre.
Varna Airport - Perfectly placed to explore the Black Sea coastline, Varna is perhaps the most interesting resort in the area with its Roman baths and fascinating museums. If you’d rather get out and about, the Golden Sands (or Zlatni Pyasâtsi) resort is nearby and offers gorgeous scenery. The historical city of Nessebar is also worthy of a visit.
Bourgas Airport – Bourgas (or Burgas) is essentially a transport hub for other more popular locations. It is close to four wonderful lakes that will satisfy even the most demanding nature lover’s needs whilst a number of good museums and restaurants are on offer in this lively, much overlooked town.
