Sightseeing in Alghero
Wander along the lovely cobbled streets of Alghero’s Old Town which is crammed with shops, bars, and restaurants. Stop by a café and enjoy a nice glass of local wine.
Alghero does also have the benefit of a beach. Head to the golden sands and relax for a while, topping up your tan at the same time.
Take a stroll to the marina and soak up the wondrous views over the area.
Day trips from Alghero
Travel to Sassari and discover St Nicholas Church, a fantastic landmark in the Old Town. Head towards the Rosello Fountain and marvel at this marbled beauty.
The town of Nuoro is also easy to reach by car. Journey to Grazia Deledda's house-museum and the Museum of Life and Popular Tradition where a sample of traditional Sardinian tools is housed.
Embark on a drive to Neptune’s Grotto. The journey should take you approximately 40-50 minutes by car, but the breath-taking scenery and winding roads that you will encounter along the way will provide plenty of entertainment in themselves! A tour can be taken every hour, so you can get a guided tour of the incredible contents of the caves, a worthy trip indeed.
On your way back from the Grotto, stop off at Porto Conte Regional Park, where you will find plentiful strawberry trees and a wonderful variety of animals including birds of prey, wild horses and deer to name a few.
For a step back in time, drive to Nuraghe di Palmavera. View the remains of the palace that was built in the 14th century BC surrounded by fifty smaller huts. Take the time to visit the neighbouring site of Anghelu Ruju too.
