Things to See in Mellieha
Travel to the Mellieha Sanctuary. Marvel at the oil paintings and fantastic marble sculptures. It’s a great place to really get a feel for the Maltese culture. Mellieha Cathedral should also be visited.
Spend the day on one of the beaches of Mellieha Bay. You will find a sweeping crescent of golden sand and shallow water, bars and cafes in close proximity and plenty of water sports to partake in too.
Explore the Area
Drive to the Majjistral Nature and History Park which is just outside of the town centre. Best explored on foot, you have the option of embarking on a guided walk, or simply ambling around the park under your own steam. During the warmer weather, you can even snorkel around Golden Bay too.
A trip to St Paul’s Bay, just a short distance away is well-worth taking. Here you can enjoy great snorkelling and swimming, plus there are plenty of restaurants to choose from to satisfy your appetite.
The famous Popeye Village is also only a stone’s throw away and well-worth a visit. Used as a film set in the 1980’s, this is a fantastic day out whether you are old or young.
If you fancy taking a boat trip, then spend the day on the island of Comino. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to take your hire car as the island is free of any vehicles. Laze in Blue Lagoon, and don’t forget to bring your snorkel, as there are plenty of opportunities to explore.
