Sliema is served by Malta Airport and is found approximately 20 minutes away on the east coast of the island.
Things to Do in Sliema
There are great shopping opportunities here and Sliema boasts the largest shopping centre on the island so spend a few hours bargain hunting. There are also several great restaurants to be found on Howard Street which will be sure to whet your appetite.
If you enjoy swimming, then you should find ample chances to do this in Sliema. The long beach near a beach club will suit those who also wish to soak up the sunshine too. Due to its close proximity to Manoel Island, you can also see this from parts of the bay such as Tigne Seafront.
Why not even spend some time on Manoel Island itself? It is well-known for being home to a wide variety of yachts, but also for being awash with fortresses and museums to help you to piece together its past.
Journey Around Malta
Travel a short distance to the Ta Qali National Park. Here you will find a wonderful wide open space perfect for a picnic. There is also a colourful vegetable market and craft village to visit.
Make the journey to the fabulous capital city of Valletta. You will be spoilt for choice with a range of historical sights, plenty of shopping, sporting activities including swimming and snorkelling and of course lots of lovely eateries to choose from.
Visit the wondrous natural swimming pool that is St Peter’s Pool. Bring your snorkel along too and make the most of the crystal clear waters. This tranquil area is fantastic if you are keen to escape the hustle and bustle of the tourist heavy towns.
