Scenic Drives and Day Trips
Spend an afternoon exploring the Tombs of the Kings. This UNESCO World Heritage site is just a 10 minute drive from the city centre and Paphos’ main attraction. The site contains a set of grand underground tombs that date back to the Hellinistic and Roman Periods. Despite being thousands of years old, the tombs are very well-preserved and bound to capture your interest!
For more local legend, visit the nearby ‘Baths of Aphrodite’. The natural Grotto, just an hour’s drive from Paphos, is claimed to be the spot where the Greek goddess met her lover, Adonis! Follow the shady nature trails, paddle in the shallows or take a swim. To make the most of the day remember to pack a picnic or enjoy lunch at the on-site café.
Take a drive to the Troodos Mountains in the centre of the island. A journey that is worthwhile for hiking enthusiasts and provides amazing views across the island. You will see plenty of traces of volcanic lava from the underwater eruption which once formed the island around 90 million years ago! Skiing is also possible here during the winter months.
From days spent relaxing on the gorgeous beaches, to history, sports and shopping, there’s plenty to enjoy in and around Paphos.
