Izmir Airport Car Hire.

Explore Izmir.

Lapping up the Mediterranean sunshine on Turkey's popular central Aegean coastline in the west of the country, Izmir makes a popular base for a holiday in Turkey.

Now a bustling, modern city with wonderful beach resorts in easy reach, Izmir was once known as the ancient city of Smyrna with a history which dates back more than 5,000 years. Despite its age however, the city does lack in historical buildings due to a fire which ravaged the city in 1922 but it's a still a joy to explore with some gems still to be found in the Muslim and Jewish quarters.

With a number of neighbouring towns and cities easy to explore with a rental car and plenty to keep you enthralled within the city limits itself, Izmir is a top choice for your upcoming trip.

Sightseeing in Izmir

Car hire is the best way to explore this fascinating city and surrounding area. Get on your way as soon as you touch down at Izmir Airport so you can make the most of your time away.

There's plenty to see and do; for starters, why not treat yourself to a slightly different take on retail therapy? Head to the Izmir Bazaar where you can buy all manner of interesting and unique items including bronze crafts, rugs, and clothes.

Alternatively, for a truly indulgent afternoon visit one of the many Turkish spas in and around the city. Relax and enjoy yourself at the Balcova Hot Springs or if you want a beach experience, travel to the coastal town of Cesme and relax on the gorgeous beaches. Follow a relaxing day with a tasty meal at one of the many great restaurants and enjoy the fantastic nightlife.

Day Trips From Izmir

Drive your hire car from Izmir Airport to Bornova. There's a large shopping mall to keep you occupied along with the towns traditional architecture to enjoy.

The popular seaside town of Cesme is well-worth a visit too whilst in the area and is only an hour from Izmir Airport by car. The castle is definitely a highlight of a trip here, and of course the beaches are a big draw too. Explore the compact town centre and then stop for a rest and a drink in the main square.

For a trip that takes you slightly further afield, consider a visit to Didim which will take around two hours to reach. Upon your arrival you will be able to explore this ancient city and enjoy sights such as the Temple of Apollo.
