Collecting your hire car at Faro Airport
We work with Guerin, Dollar and Hertz who have a desk in the airport terminal. Travelrent, Masterkings, Rent Auto, Drive 4 Fun, Rent it Simple and Rent Car 4 Less all operate from the car parks at Faro Airport; they’re just a short walk from the terminal building.
If you prefer to get away from the hustle and bustle of the airport, Drive on Holidays, Lagorent and Centauro are based off-site and provide a handy shuttle bus service to take you to their depot.

Leaving the airport
Access Faro by taking the N125-10 road from Faro Airport. This journey takes 10 minutes.
Heading west on the A22 motorway for 40 minutes will get you to Albufeira. Continuing further west on this road will take you to Lagos. The A22 is a toll road.

The main road that serves the Algarve, the A22, is a toll road. You may need to use it during your travels around this area. The toll can be paid in a variety of ways depending on your chosen car rental provider. Simply click through to booking step one for more information.
If a transponder is provided by the car rental provider, you can opt to have one here. If this is not detailed, you will need to purchase credit for the toll roads from a post office or supermarket in Portugal.
Explore the Algarve by car
Don’t limit yourself to just one town! Hire a car and discover more. Albufeira is one of the most popular resorts in the Algarve. Both the Old Town and bustling marina are full of character.
Journey to Loule, a fabulous market town. The weekly fair is hugely popular amongst tourists and it has some great historic points of interest, such as the remains of the Arab Castle.
With some of the best golf courses in Europe, there's no better time to hit the fairways whether you're a seasoned pro or absolute beginner. Take your pick from courses such as San Lorenzo in Almancil or Lester's Golf in Vilamoura.

Which size car do you need?
Pick the perfect size hire car for your trip away…
Supermini: (example vehicles: Chevrolet Spark - Mini or Ford Fiesta - Economy) Great if you don’t have many passengers and/ or have travelled with minimal luggage. You can usually squeeze 1-2 medium sized suitcases in the boot.
Small family/ compact: (example vehicles: VW Golf or Ford Focus) If you’re travelling in a larger group or family, a bigger car will be more suitable with capacity for roughly 3 medium suitcases!
Estate/ small MPV: (example vehicles: Seat Ibiza SW, Ford Focus Estate, Fiat Doblo) Perfect if you’re planning a golf break and need the extra room. Hire a vehicle with a boot big enough for your clubs, and meander the many courses on offer.
People Carrier/ Large MPV: (example vehicle: Ford S-Max, Opel Vivaro) Think 7-9 seats. If you have a sizeable group or the family in tow, you may need the space that a people carrier provides.
SUV: (example vehicles: Nissan Juke or Nissan Qashqai) Sport utility vehicles or SUVs are in high demand and car rental providers tend not to have many in their fleets. If you want to explore the open road in one of these, book early!
Coupe/ convertible: (example vehicles: Peugeot 308 CC Cabriolet.) If you love the idea of cruising along the Algarve with the top down, book in advance and make your dream a reality!
