Cala Bona is a relatively small resort found on the opposite side of Mallorca to Palma Airport. Since the 1970’s it has grown from a small fishing port into a popular summer destination without the noise and mayhem of larger resorts such as Magaluf.
Spend Some Time in the Town
Although much of Cala Bona’s coastline is rocky, there are some inviting, sandy beaches on offer. The main beach is close to the promenade and is well-equipped with sunbeds, parasols, and lifeguards making it the perfect spot for families. If you’re after extensive water sports, you’re best off heading over to neighbouring Cala Millor.
Head down to the harbour and you’ll discover a wonderful selection of bars and restaurants – just make sure you book a table!
Travel Further Afield
If you are keen to play a round of golf or two, you’ll find Canyamel Golf where you can hone your game. There are also courses available at nearby Son Servera and Capdepera all of which present differing challenges against a picturesque backdrop.
Take a trip to the historic town of Capdepera. Protected by fortifications since the 1300’s, discover the castle, relax in the market square, or simply enjoy a cold drink in the sun. The resort of Cala Ratjada is also close by if you crave some beach time instead.
If you would like to spend some time in a more tranquil part of the island, start your day at Colonia San Pedro. It is only a short drive from Cala Bona and if you fancy embarking on a hike, then you can reach Cap Farrutx. This is a beautiful area to explore both on foot and by car.
