Unearth Menorca.

Sun drenched and naturally beautiful, Menorca is a popular choice for summer holidays.

Mahon is the capital of Menorca, one of the Balearic Islands off the coast of Spain. Unlike many other popular holiday islands, Menorca is relatively untouched by the usual signs of mass tourism. The island boasts natural beauty at every turn, not to mention plenty of history.

The city of Mahon itself, also known as Mao, is a hive of things to see and do with a comfortable atmosphere too making it a great base for your holiday. Spend your days visiting the various attractions before heading out to explore the beautiful beaches and sightseeing opportunities across the island.

Things to See and Do in Mahon

The city is a wonderful combination of old and new architecture, meaning a wander around will always be interesting. The Old Town contains remains of the city walls. There are many vibrant squares that make Ciutadella an exceptionally interesting location. Be sure to take in the gothic cathedral and the Torre de Sant Nicolau too!

Home to one of the deepest natural harbours in the world, it's a wonderful location to while away an afternoon. Make sure that you include it in your plans and enjoy a spot of people watching at one of the water side cafes.

Enjoy the huge variety of other activities on offer here too including boat tours, horse racing and a visit to the Xoriguer Gin Distillery.

Exploring the Rest of Menorca

Travel around some of Menorca's best restaurants when you hire a car. Sample some local cuisine and soak up the atmosphere at the various coastal resorts; Es Migjorn Gran close to Santo Tomas is home to some excellent bars and restaurants though you may have to battle the locals for a table!

You should also consider a visit to Cala Blanca with your rental car. It's a modern resort town found on the opposite side of the island, boasting a beautiful beach to laze on.

If you’re partial to a spot of golf, include a trip to Son Parc on the west of the island. It is home to the only course in Menorca and is easily reached from Mahon in around half an hour!

Embark on a coastal tour of the island; there is so much to see and your own transport gives you the freedom to pull over whenever the mood strikes!
