Should I rent a car at Fuerteventura Airport with Zest Car Rental?
In short, yes! Start your adventures by visiting Corralejo in the north of the island. A former fishing village, it’s now a thriving resort full of shops, bars, and cafés. The Parque Natural de las Dunas de Corralejo is another fascinating attraction to add to your itinerary and is just south of the town on the coast.
Alternatively, head to Costa Calma in the south. The quite literal translation is 'Calm Coast' and with its beautiful white beach and gentle waters, it’s easy to see how it got its name.
Elsewhere on the island, you could choose to visit the La Lajita Zoo filled with giraffes, hippos, giraffes, and more than 200 different species of birds. Alternatively, if you’re travelling with kids, head to the Acua Water Park in Corralejo with its slides, jacuzzis, and pools.
Sightseeing Around Puerto del Rosario!
The capital of Puerto del Rosario is just 7km from the airport and offers an assortment of shops and plenty of great cafes and restaurants in which to relax or sample the local cuisine. When it comes to sightseeing, be sure to visit Casa Museo de Unamuno, an 18th Century Baroque house that once belonged to Miguel de Unamuno.
Famed for its beaches, there are over 150 on Fuerteventura from which to choose. Nearly all have excellent facilities and many offer an extensive range of watersports such as windsurfing and diving.
Alternatively, there are a variety of different boat tours to take; from dolphin spotting cruises to snorkelling excursions, or just sightseeing cruises with lunch included. It’s certainly a great way to see more of the island and provides a fun day out for the whole family.
