Tenerife is definitely one of the most popular of the Canary Islands. It’s not really a surprise as to why; combining natural beauty, with family attractions and excellent nightlife for a younger crowd it caters to all tastes.
If you’re visiting Tenerife, you will most likely land here. Book a hire car at Tenerife South Airport to get the best experience of the island. Traverse the nooks and crannies that you just can’t access with public transport.
Reasons to Visit Tenerife
A volcanic island, you can hardly miss the inspiring peak of Mount Teide. It’s the third largest volcano in the world and the highest mountain in Spain. Even the journey towards this giant is wonderful and once you reach the top, the never ending views will take your breath away.
Visit Los Gigantes, also referred to as the cliffs of the giants. Look in awe at the remarkable sheer cliff faces at a height of 800m in places. The journey should take around 45 minutes; why not take a boat trip out to view them in their entirety?
Los Cristianos is another exciting area to visit. There’s plenty of hustle and bustle with a busy beach and plenty of restaurants, bars and clubs; yet once a fishing village, it still retains its traditional charm. Siam Park is a really fun attraction to enjoy here with wave machines, flumes, a 100ft high slide an aquarium. The neighbouring resort of Playa de las Americas is much busier and more commercial but still worth a visit.

One of the most popular attractions in Tenerife is undoubtedly the Teide National Park in the centre of the island, the home to the largest mountain in the whole of Spain. You can reach the summit of the volcano by cable car with stunning views awaiting you.
Journey to the north of the island and spend a day in the town of Garachico. The streets here are speckled with tapas bars and traditional buildings which give it a distinct Spanish feel. The nearby lava rock pools are equally worth visiting.
