Things to See and Do in Genoa

The Old Town of Genoa is a maze of cobbled streets and contains some staggering architecture. There are some incredible buildings here which can make for an interesting excursion, such as Genoa Cathedral and any of the Palazzi dei Rolli. You will also find many interesting art galleries to inspire your creative instincts.

Alternatively, spend an afternoon visiting the Genoa Aquarium; a somewhat surprising suggestion for an Italian holiday. Home to an extensive array of underwater wildlife including sharks, dolphins, and penguins, it’s a great day out for the whole family.

Day Trips From Genoa

Discover the Italian Riviera. Under an hour’s drive around the coast is the picturesque town of Varazze. The town makes for an excellent day trip and there are several beaches here to be enjoyed. There is a lively atmosphere and it is best enjoyed during a stroll along the promenade.

For a taste of another cosmopolitan Italian city, drive to Milan; it is only an hour and a half away. Milan has a buzzing atmosphere and it is easy to see why it is at the centre of the world’s fashion industry. You can hit the huge range of shops or take in some of the cultural sights, it’s up to you. Make sure you visit La Scala, the world renowned opera house, to see where some of the most famous performances were given.

If you are after something completely different then Monaco is only 2 hours’ drive away. A visit to this glamorous Principality is an exciting experience. Gaze at the super-yachts and then head into town to visit the famous casino with all manner of super cars parked outside.
