There is a real seaside atmosphere here, and if you enjoy spending time lazing on the sand, this is the place for you.
If you can drag yourself away from the beach for a few hours, make a trip to the Museo delle Genti d'Abruzzo. This fascinating museum depicts what life was like as a peasant in Abruzzo. There are some great exhibits and lots of artefacts which help the museum come to life.
Day Trips From Pescara
Pescara is perfectly placed for you to escape the beach and explore some of the surrounding countryside in your rental car. For example, you can drive along the coast and head towards Termoli. There is a beautiful old town to explore and a magnificent cathedral to discover here.
For an alternative day trip, the wonderful town of Campobasso is situated close to the Apennine Mountains and is renowned for its cool climate. Campobasso is built around a large hill, which provides the focal point of the town. If you are feeling energetic, take a climb to the top to see some incredible views over the surrounding countryside. You can also visit the stunning Castello Monforte and a variety of beautiful churches here.
There are a range of other interesting places to visit in the area, including Latina, where you can visit St Marcus Cathedral, the fountain in Piazza Libertà or spend some time relaxing by the sea.
