Car Hire at Rome Ciampino Airport.

Roam around Rome.

You will no doubt want to spread your wings a little further though. Head north into the Apennine Mountains, soak up the wondrous scenery and of course enjoy the amazing food that this region can offer.

With two airports that serve the city of Rome, the other being Rome Fiumicino Airport, getting around Lazio is easy when you pick up a hire car. This is the smaller airport of the two, but it is perfect for a trip to the centre of Rome.

Top Attractions in Rome

Rome itself has a vast array of attractions to enjoy. Trek around the city and enjoy the historical sites of ancient Rome. Amble around the Roman Forum, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona; not forgetting of course the famous Colosseum!

Vatican City is another part of a trip to Rome that should not be missed. St. Peter's Basilica and the square directly in front is a truly breathtaking site. Gaze in awe as you stroll towards it, just make sure you cover your shoulders and knees so that you can take a peek inside! The Vatican Museums are an integral part of a visit here and the stunning Sistine Chapel found at the end is unforgettable.

Just outside of the city, you will find Parco dei Castelli Romani, perfect for a walk in less crowded surroundings. As with much of Rome, there are archaeological remains to view including Monti Tuscolani, but the surrounding landscape is tranquil.

If you crave another drive into the hills, travel towards Parco Naturale dei Monti Lucretili. Packed with a variety of flora and fauna, once again this park is a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Explore the Region of Lazio

Believe it or not, there is more to Lazio than the city of Rome! Simply hop in your hire car and away you go. A road trip through the Apennine Mountains will surely be a highlight of your holiday.

Journey to the town of Proceno and make sure that you visit Castello di Proceno too. Littered with impressive scenic views and historical wonders, this small gem will give you a true taste of this part of Italy.

Due to its volcanic past, Lazio is a treasure trove of hot natural thermal springs so hire a car and find your favourite spot. Some are naturally occurring and some have been carved out, but the experience is something that you must enjoy. Why not try Il Bagnaccio for starters?

Latina, which is just a short car journey away, is packed full of activities and attractions to sample. Soak up the sunshine at one of the beaches nearby, or head to Lake Fogliano or Sabaudia which is usually described as a bird watchers paradise.
