Also referred to as Vale de Loire Airport, due to its proximity to the Loire Valley, Tours is the perfect starting point for any holiday to the Loire. Arrange to hire a car so that you can pick it up and start your holiday as soon as you land.

Day Trips From Tours - Explore the Loire Valley
Some of the best chateaux are only a stone’s throw from Tours itself such as those in Amboise and Villandry. Explore some of the vineyards around Sancerre and Pouilly-sur-Loire and purchase some souvenirs.
Le Mans is also fairly close by and should provide plenty of entertainment for a day out. Amble along the cobbled streets and soak up the atmosphere. View the remnants of a Roman wall and baths and relax and watch the world go by in a local café.
Drive to Berry and visit the cathedral, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk through the centre of the town and marvel at its half-timber buildings. Just a short distance away, you will find Noirlac Abbey, a fantastically well preserved monastery.
Journey to Château de Cheverny, which you may well recognise from Tintin. Embark on a boat trip through the gardens once you have exhausted the house itself.
