Kos Town – Where Do We Start!
If you want to soak up the sunshine on your doorstep, then Town Beach (also known as Zouroudi Beach) is the best place for you. If however you are keen to go a little further afield, then Lambi Beach is easily walkable from the town centre and is quite large. You will need to head to Psalidi Beach if you want to try your hand at water sports though.
Due to its proximity to Turkey, you could catch a ferry over to Bodrum. If you head over on market day, you can try to grab yourself a bargain. This is also a good opportunity to have a Turkish bath so you’ll come back even more relaxed!
Stroll to the harbour and the imposing Neratzia Castle. If you are in the mood for a little more history, uncover the Roman ruins dotted around Kos Town. Alternatively, hop in the car and drive to Asklepion just outside town to see the remains of a Greek healing temple.
Things to See Around Kos
Drive to the village of Zia. This is a fantastic place to watch the sunset and comes highly recommended by all who visit Kos. Make sure that you leave some time for a spot of dinner and sample some local Greek cuisine too.
Head to the Salt Lake at Tigaki. This area is incredibly pretty and presents many photo opportunities. There is a beach close by that means you can even soak up some sunshine too. Journey into the centre of Tigaki later and take a stroll around here.
Travel to Therma Beach and bathe in the hot volcanic spring. It can be busy during the summer, so it's probably best to try to visit earlier in the morning to avoid the masses! Once you have finished here, drive back towards Paleo Pili and explore the fortress which can be found in this village.
