It's one of the most popular bases for a holiday in the Greek Islands and is sometimes referred to as Thira, after the island's capital.
Whether you want to spend your days on the beach, exploring the traditional villages or combine the two on your holiday, Santorini is a great choice. Uncover all that it has to offer and collect a hire car as soon as you arrive. If you are island hopping around the Greek Islands, why not choose to pick up a rental car from Santorini Port instead? Your own transport is definitely an ideal option if you are only on this gorgeous island for a few days.
Why Holiday on Santorini?
Santorini with its attractive beaches, dramatic landscapes and famous sunsets is an appealing destination for young and old visitors! Across the island, there is a variety of interesting activities and attractions to include in your trip.
Start by visiting the capital Thira, or Fira as it is sometimes spelt. It is a far cry from other capitals you may have visited, verging more on the side of a large town than a city. Whilst you won't find a huge plateau of "attractions", its modest offering is well worth including in your itinerary. The likes of which include a trip on the cable car, the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Prehistoric Thira and craft studios, plus of course the usual cafes and shops to pass some time in!
