Things to See and Do in Zakynthos town
Following serious earthquakes in 1953, much of the town's original architecture was destroyed and ruins can still be found across the island. This meant that the town had to be rebuilt and whilst it has lost some of its historical significance, it's still great to explore and boasts plenty of restaurants and bars.
Journey up the hill of Bochali on foot from the town centre, and you will find some of the most amazing wonders of the island, complimented by a fantastic panoramic view of the whole city.
Enjoy a relaxing wander along the waterfront promenade, sunbathe, and swim on the local beaches. Traverse to the ruins of the Venetian Castle, an unmissable part of any trip to Zante. It sits on a hillside above the town and is both well preserved and educational.
