If you are looking for an idyllic spot to cool off after soaking up the warm Mediterranean sun, be sure to visit the Nidri Waterfalls, also known as Dimossari Waterfalls. The trail to the waterfall passes through pine trees and the waterfall itself ends up in a gorge which collects the water and acts as a great swimming spot. The hike to the waterfalls follows a paved pathway and shouldn’t take you more than 20 minutes. Look out for the smaller waterfalls that line the pathway.
Explore the Island
Head off to explore the capital of Lefkas; there are plenty of museums to choose from including the Archaeological Museum plus an array of shops and cafés to suit all tastes. Take a seat at one of the pavement cafés in the town square and watch the world go by as you relax with a coffee.
Be sure to visit the glamorous Marina. This is a relatively new addition to the town and provides an interesting afternoon of people watching. Admire the luxury yachts and catamarans that moor here as they sail to-and-fro between Corfu and Kefalonia.
For a truly original souvenir of your holiday on Lefkas Island, make the short 20 minute drive to the hillside village of Kari. Here you’ll find the village women hard at work making beautiful handcrafted lace and fine embroidery.
