Belfast International Airport lies 18 miles west of the centre of Belfast. Belfast, the name of which means 'mouth of the sandbanks', is both the largest city of Northern Ireland and the capital.

Explore the city of Belfast on foot and take the Belfast Wheel for its panoramic views of the city. Wander around St George's Market or stop for lunch and a pint of Yardsman; a Belfast lager. Finish the day with a visit to the striking St Anne's Cathedral which dates from 1904.
Spend a day at Belfast Zoo, home to over 1,200 animals from across 140 species. With animals such as tigers, gorillas, cheetahs, and meerkats on display; the zoo is suitable for all ages. The zoo is easily accessible by rental car and offers plenty of onsite parking.
Take a stroll through the Belfast Botanic Gardens, which occupy 28 acres of south Belfast and are a popular destination for visitors and locals alike. The grounds offer a calm environment in which to explore with a large variety of plants on display.
A short distance from the Botanic Gardens is the Ulster Museum. The museum has roughly 8,000 square metres of public display space, displaying material from the collections of fine art, archaeology, and treasures from the Spanish Armada along with local history exhibits.
Go shopping at Westfield Castle Court or Victoria Square, two of Northern Ireland's largest shopping centres. Maybe play a round of golf at one of the many golf courses around Belfast or go for a drive in your rental car along the coast and through the Irish countryside.
Visit Titanic Belfast, a major visitor attraction and monument to Belfast's maritime heritage. The exhibits give detail of the stories of the ill-fated RMS Titanic, which sank on her maiden voyage in 1912 and her sister ships, RMS Olympic, and HMHS Britannic.
Explore Northern Ireland
Make sure you explore Northern Ireland to the fullest. You may like to visit the town of Omagh before heading to Gortin Glens Forest Park where you will find a deer enclosure, lakes, and waterfalls.
Head north in your hire car for a scenic drive and after an hour and a half you'll come to Giants Causeway. Owned and managed by the National Trust the causeway is one of Ireland's popular tourist destinations.
Alternatively, venture over the border into the Republic of Ireland to visit their largest and most famous city; Dublin. You will want to spend a few days here to make the journey worthwhile as it's close to a two hour drive.
