Just a 45 minute drive from Bath, Cheddar Gorge is a fantastic day out for all ages. Explore the hidden chambers and uncover the incredible ice and rock formations in Gough’s Cave and visit Cox’s Cave with its ethereal mirror pools and bubbling fountains. This World Heritage Site is shrouded in mystery with archaeologists, anthropologists and historians unable to explain what it was built for or how our Neolithic ancestors were able to build it. Don’t forget to pop into the visitors’ centre where you’ll find some fantastic displays and exhibitions explaining what is known about the area’s history and some of the major theories about Stonehenge’s origins.
Exploring the Cotswolds is a must for visitors to Bath. Drive out to the picturesque villages of Winchcombe and Bibury where you’ll find cottages, marketplaces and unspoilt village greens that fascinate visitors from all over with their timeless charm. Walk some of the Cotswold Way and enjoy a delicious pub lunch for a quintessentially English afternoon.
