Sightseeing in Bristol
The city has many sights to discover. Start your journey in Clifton, specifically the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge. Designed by Brunel, he sadly passed away before its completion, but you can enjoy the views from a range of vantage points, including the Observatory and even below its breathtaking structure across Avon Gorge.
The suburb of Clifton is populated with numerous independent shops, you will be sure to find something unusual here. Amble along to Bristol Cathedral which is only a short walk away and if the weather is nice enough, enjoy a cool refreshment on the green.
Bristol Zoo Gardens is also in Clifton and provides great entertainment for the whole family. Packed with a wide variety of animals across 12 acres of land, there are also many events held here throughout the year.
The centre of Bristol presents you with Cabot Circus, a shopping mall filled with all of the high street stores. Wander along the harbour and enjoy a meal or snack in this picturesque backdrop too. Home to Banksy, try and locate his work dotted across the city on your travels.
Day Trips From Bristol
As mentioned above, the beautiful city of Bath is only 30 minutes’ drive away. Just hire a car and explore the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, marvel at Pulteney Bridge, and amble around the Guildhall.
Head over to south Wales and enjoy a day at the Brecon Beacons National Park. Littered with castles and churches, view some beautiful architecture or if you have the kids in tow, Garwnant Visitor Centre is a great source of fun and activities to enthral all.
Take a drive along the coast, and visit Clevedon Beach through to Burnham on Sea. If you have arranged car hire you can sample this short road trip easily. Weymouth or Bournemouth, are both about 2 hours away by car. They are larger towns where you can soak up some sunshine or just stroll along the beach.
