Usually you would arrive by plane at Gibraltar Airport and walk the short distance to the Spanish border where the car hire office can be found. This region of Spain is undoubtedly best explored by rental car.
What is There to do in La Linea?
La Linea, or La Linea de la Concepcion, itself is actually quite small and therefore the attractions in the town are quite limited. That said however, there are some elements you shouldn't miss. Explore the old quarter of the town, known as La Atunara, where you can take a wander around the harbour and visit the old church, then stop for a bite to eat in one of the cafes or restaurants in the area. You could also explore the delights on offer at the open air market.
Visit the Playa de Levante beach on the eastern side of town. It's popular with locals and visitors alike and there's a small bar at which to enjoy a cool drink too. Alternatively, why not play a few rounds of golf at the local golf course?
Just over the border, Gibraltar offers a wealth of alternative attractions such as boat trips from the attractive harbour, a trip in the cable car to Monkey Rock and a visit to St Michael's Cave, great hiking trails - especially a trip up the Mediterranean steps and a number of historical sites such as the World War II tunnels, amongst plenty more.
Why Should I Organise La Linea Car Hire?
Head off to explore south east Spain with a hire car. Drive along the coast and spend some time at Estepona, Marbella and even the birthplace of Picasso, Malaga. You will be spoilt for choice with a stunning selection of beaches as well as great historic buildings and museums to enjoy.
Alternatively, head inland to explore the beautiful expanse of Los Alcornocales Natural Park less than an hour's drive away. Home to a stunning cork tree forest, one of the most important in the world in fact, it boasts diverse flora and fauna and is the perfect destination for a long walk.
Why not dedicate a few days of your itinerary to a trip to Seville? This classically Spanish city has so much to see and do; catch a traditional flamenco show, visit the bullfighting arena, soak up the culture at the many museums and awe at the impressive Gothic cathedral.
