Nicknamed the ‘Capital of Latin America’ due to its large Spanish and Cuban communities, Miami has grown to become a major centre for finance, culture, entertainment, and international trade.
What is There to Do in Miami?
Miami has a wide selection of bars and restaurants. It also offers a variety of things to do and see; ranging from museums and art galleries to health spas and golf courses. The main question will be, do you have time to see and do it all?
Head over to one of Miami’s numerous beaches such as Muscle Beach, South Beach or Virginia Key Beach. Enjoy the clear blue waters, sunshine and white sands which makes this a popular destination for surfers. You can swim, dive, snorkel, canoe, kayak, windsurf or fish to your heart’s content.
Discover Ocean Drive in the art deco district and see the iconic buildings which are visually stunning both during the day and at night. This district has over 800 buildings from the 1930’s and 1940’s. Then head over to Little Havana for a taste of Cuba.
Miami’s Seaquarium is a short drive from the airport. Take the opportunity to catch a show or explore the exhibits which include sharks. Within a short driving distance is Miami Zoo which exhibits a wide range of animals, over 2,000 in fact!
Day Trips From Miami

Drive up to Fort Lauderdale and explore the picturesque beaches that stretch for 23 miles along the coastline. Take a water ferry tour of the intra-coastal waterways that have earned Fort Lauderdale its nickname the “Venice of America.”
To the south of Miami lie the Florida Keys. Take the All American Road; this scenic route offers a great way to explore the area. Pick up a hire car and stop off and enjoy the beaches along with other sights and activities such as fishing, diving, sailing, and other water sports.
Head to Fort Myers on the opposite side of the Florida peninsular. Visit the Calusa Nature Centre and Planetarium which is set on a 105-acre site. It has a museum, three nature trails, a planetarium and butterfly and bird aviaries. Alternatively Edison Mall offers a great retail experience!
